Facilities and Resources
FTA has the engineering and operational infrastructure to accomplish the mission.
- Test Aircraft
- T-38, which has external stores carriage capability is modified for systems testing. It can also be used as a pacer test aircraft and for safety/photo chase.
- C-210 modified as a Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) surrogate aircraft with hard points on the wing.
- Fairchild Dornier 328 Jet aircraft modified as an airborne icing tanker and systems test aircraft.
- A-37 systems test aircraft.
- Location – Tucson International Airport, Tucson, Arizona, with 12,000 feet of hard surface runway with crash and rescue capabilities.
- Two aircraft hangars and engineering offices (DoD approved facility)
- Mechanical and electrical shops
- Test aircraft and support equipment Flight test instrumentation hardware and software development capability
- Operating areas – Unrestricted airspace with a wide variety of terrain. The area boasts the best flying weather in the United States, where visual flight rules (VFR) apply 355 days a year.
FTA will furnish an aircraft that best fits the need of the project.
